Christians from Nelson Mandela Bay, Jeffreys Bay and the Gamtoos River valley are expected to congregate at the Kouga Dam wall on Saturday for the so-called Revival Rain meeting from 3pm to 5pm to be led by farmer-evangelist Angus Buchan, said Karoo farmer and Mighty Men coordinator Jannie Moolman who is coordinating the event.

He said praise and worship at the gathering will be led by Victory Church from Jeffreys Bay. Christian musician and songwriter Joe Niemand will also sing a few songs at the event, he said.

“We are going to pray for rain and revival in the area, especially in the Gamtoos valley,” said Moolman.

He said pastors’ fraternals in both NMB and Jeffreys Bay had sent letters to Buchan inviting him to lead a prayer meeting in the drought-stricken area. He said word of the meeting had also gone out to Gamtoos farmers and on Monday night he had a call from a Steytlerville farmer who said he was going to bring a truck and a bus full of people from that area to the prayer event.

Bring own chairs
Moolman said that people attending the event should bring their own chairs as the venue is a camping area close to the dam wall. The Kouga Dam, the largest water storage dam in the region, is currently about 14.5% full. It is about an hour and a half’s drive from Gqerberha (formerly Port Elizabeth) to the prayer venue and about an hour’s drive from Jeffreys Bay.
